Reem Hazboun Tasyakan is a Palestinian American author and scholar. She writes fiction and poetry that often draws from her travels and celebrates her Arab heritage. Her writing has appeared in Eclectica, Kweli, Panorama, and Grist.

Her debut novel is forthcoming in 2027 with Broken Tribe Press. Set between 2002-2005 in both Arizona and Syria, Halo of the Moon on Earth is a portrait of a young Palestinian American woman navigating an intercultural romance with a Syrian man. The limits of their bond are tested amid unraveling family secrets, biases, and pressures that ultimately forge Hala's awakening to her authentic self.

Reem holds a PhD in Literature from UCSD. She has taught courses in Arab literature and culture, and currently teaches Creative Writing at the University of California, San Diego

She is originally from Fulton, New York. She has called both Southern Arizona and Southern California home, but feels perpetually drawn to the tall trees, plentiful waters, and changing seasons of the American Northeast.
